This is an exciting opportunity for a Business Development and Communications Manager to join our fast growing, dynamic, award-winning organisation.

The University of Lincoln Students’ Union is a not for profit, value-led organisation which exists to represent the interests of its 17,000 student members and support their wider student experience through extracurricular activity. Within its portfolio of activity, the University of Lincoln Students’ Union also oversees four trading subsidiaries including SUMS (Students’ Union Management System Ltd).

SUMS is an award winning, sector-leading CRM system (developed by Students’ Unions for Students’ Unions) which utilises innovative, data-driven technology to understand student membership behaviours and translates them into a tailored, user-centric, digital platform.

In this role you will be responsible for for the development and effective evolution of the Business Development function; identifying new business opportunities, cultivating strategic partnerships, and championing customer acquisition to drive business growth in new and existing markets. Furthermore, you will contribute to the design and delivery of a comprehensive, tailored communications strategy to enhance brand awareness, reputation, and engagement.

What You’ll Do:

  • 📈 Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations.
  • 📊 Identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and potential areas for growth and development.
  • 📣 Enhance brand awareness and reputation of SUMS Ltd. through effective communications.
  • 👋 Deliver exceptional experiences and build long-term relationships with partners to drive loyalty and advocacy.
You will leverage a combination of compelling communication tactics and effective strategic planning to enhance SUMS’s value proposition, to both existing and prospective partners, successfully contributing to the overall success and growth of the organisation.

In this role you will be responsible for the creation of aesthetically pleasing and innovative website designs and applications, from concept to completion, for Students’ Union Management System Ltd. (SUMS) and a diverse portfolio of commercial clients spanning various sectors.

What You’ll Do:

  • 🎨 Design and develop visually appealing websites.
  • 🛠️ Translate project requirements into technical solutions.
  • ⏲️ Optimize webpages/application for maximum speed and scalability.
You will bring a skillset which combines technical fluency with a creative flair, bridging the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, to create aesthetically pleasing and innovative website designs and applications, from concept to completion.
